As of late last year, fans of NFL football and the PGA golf tour have faced tighter restrictions on the type, style and size of bags that they are allowed to carry with them while enjoying the live sporting action. The changes have been made in an effort to improve public health and safety during game days, but also to make access to stadiums and courses much quicker and easier.
Certain bags remain allowed at both types of sporting event, usually smaller clear bags or those required for health reasons. However, there’s nothing worse than traveling hours to watch your favorite NFL team or PGA golfers in action, only to discover that your pre-packed bag isn’t permitted inside the grounds. This is why here at Wearable Imaging we have rounded up all of the latest requirements and guidelines for NFL and PGA events, to make sure that you’re fully prepared for your next day out as a spectator.
So if you plan on going to an NFL game in the near future, what exactly are you allowed to take into the stadium with you?
When it comes to the National Football League, teams encourage fans not to bring any bags at all if they can help it. Clear plastic, vinyl or PVVC bags can be carried into the stadium if they are smaller than 12” x 6” x 12” in size. Similarly, fans may take clear ziplock/freezer bags with capacity of up to 1 gallon with them. Purses and clutch bags are also allowed, provided that they are around the size of a hand (no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”.
If you suffer from a medical condition, then rest assured that you will be allowed to take your medical supplies with you into the stadium, regardless of the bag that they are carried in. Other items like binoculars, smartphones and cameras are also permitted in stadiums, but any carrying cases above the permitted size will not be allowed into NFL venues.
With the prestigious Masters tournament currently underway, more and more of us will be looking to attend live PGA Tour golf events over the coming months. However, just like the NFL, safety and security measures are in place at every PGA tour event.
Opaque bags may be taken into PGA events if they are no larger than 6” x 6” – or about the size of a small purse. Clear plastic bags can be carried if they are smaller than 12” x 6” x 12”, and re-sealable clear one gallon bags may be used to carry food or other items. As with at the NFL, any medical supplies are permitted but may be subject to a brief search at entry to the event.
Certain other items may be carried, but are not permitted in larger carrying cases. These include tablets and PDAs, cameras (with a lens no larger than 6”), portable radios or iPods, binoculars and collapsible chairs.
If you’re unsure about a particular bag or item being taken with you into a PGA Tour or NFL event, why not contact the venue beforehand to discuss the situation? By doing so you will be contributing towards a safer environment during these sporting events, and you won’t risk being turned away at the entrance gate.
Wearable Imaging now carries several styles of clear bags that fit in with the PGA and NFL guidelines. We have different styles and sizes that will appeal to any event attendee; clear messenger bags, clear backpacks, clear drawstring backpacks and clear tote bags.
