Now that we are into the month of August, many of us have begun to make plans towards our children returning to school or college within the next few weeks. Every new school year millions of parents will visit the local malls to buy our fair share of new clothes, classroom supplies and books. But with technology now an essential part of our children’s lives and education, it is not uncommon for our back to school shopping lists to also include a few tech items or gadgets.
We have compiled a list of five of the hottest and essential tech items for back to school this year. You don’t want your student to be out of the loop when it comes to these exciting gadgets.
Noise Canceling Headphones
Noise canceling headphones are the perfect item for students who need some peace and quiet to study amongst all of the distractions of the school or college environment. We all know how noisy college dorm rooms can become, but with a long essay due in only a few hours’ time, noise canceling headphones like Beats by Dre and Bose QuietComfort can be a lifesaver.
Livescribe 3 is an exciting new gadget that allows users to record their handwritten notes in digital format. The lightweight pen syncs to your iPad or iPhone wirelessly and without the need for a laptop, allowing you to save digital copies of your notes which can then be converted into Word documents and other text files. This can save your child hours of time otherwise spent typing up their notes, and is guaranteed to help when it comes to revising for those end of year exams. Even if you don’t own an iPhone, there is an equivalent Wi-Fi version of the Livescribe 3 that saves your notes in cloud storage.
Macbook Air 6.2
The Macbook Air 6.2 was released in April 2014, and is one of the slimmest and most powerful laptops available on the market. With a fast processor and crystal clear “retina” display, the Macbook Air is suitable for everything from streaming college lecture video feeds to learning times tables with interactive games. You could even choose a custom laptop carrying case to keep your new computer safe and secure.
External hard drive
Even the highest quality laptops can be destroyed with just a momentary lapse of concentration, especially in a busy college dorm or around young children in the home. Both wired and wireless external hard drives – like the Levigato External Hard Drive – act as a back-up for your child’s schoolwork, music and television shows, making sure that nothing is lost if disaster strikes. An external drive can be purchased for as little as $50, but you could also look into a cheaper alternative like a personalized USB flash drive.
Samsung Galaxy Note S 10.5
A tablet like the recently released Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is the perfect gadget for your child, whether they’re going back to high school or college. These lightweight but powerful tablets can be used to type up lecture notes, research a classroom presentation or learn from the huge amount of educational games available on the Google Play store. And once the homework is finished, it will even play all of your favorite television shows on a crystal-clear Super AMOLED display.
