Online shopping is usually where savvy consumers go first to save hard-earned money. No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. If you want a good deal, you purchase on line!
If everyone knew the kind of money one could save on online retailer’s websites, physical stores would certainly suffer more than they already do. If you’re not doing at least SOME of your shopping online, you should read on and seriously consider making the transition.
Whether it’s promotional codes, flash sales, or discount websites, there’s usually a better price to be found on just about any item.
Here are three tips to help you save when shopping online:
- Abandon Cart Trick- This is a fairly new way of saving money, proven by researchers to be effective. In order for this trick to work, you must have an account on the retail site that you are shopping on. You simply fill your cart with the items that you want, then before purchasing, exit the site.
Why is this? It’s because technology has enabled retailers to know exactly when you add items to your cart and when you abandon it. Since the economy is good right now, retailers take this as a second chance at winning your business. Most companies will email you within a few days with some sort of discount as an incentive to go back and buy those items. So as long as you can wait to purchase what you want, you can also save money that way.
- CSR Chat Boxes- Use those chat boxes that pop-up on your screen when visiting a retailer’s site as a way to save money. Ask the Customer Service Representative on the other end if there are any sales, coupon codes, or promotional codes for direct responses. There won’t be sales all the time, but sometimes if you’re lucky, the employee you reach out to will send a discount of some sort your way anyway.
- Follow All Social Media Platforms– Last but not least, make sure you are following ALL of the social media platforms of your favorite brands. Companies are attempting to grow their following on newer social media platforms by offering deals only on one platform such as Instagram or Pinterest. You’ll still see deals on Facebook, but you don’t want to miss out on deals only posted on their other platforms!
It’s that simple. So what are you waiting for! Go shopping (online)!
